Surf Coast Shire Council is looking to fill three Early Childhood opportunities to commence in Term One 2027:

• Early Childhood Teacher at Torquay Kindergarten
• Early Childhood Diploma Educator at Kurrambee Myaring Kindergarten
• Early Childhood Diploma Educator at Jan Juc Pre School

Position One - Early Childhood Teacher at Torquay Kindergarten Hours 21 hours per week 14 hours contact time (as below) plus 7 hours non-contact time 

Contact time Monday           8:30am to 4:00pm Tuesday          8:30am to 4:00pm Wednesday     Planning

Position Two - Early Childhood Diploma Educator at Jan Juc Pre School Hours 35.5 hours per week 28 hours contact time (as below) plus 7.5 hours non-contact time 

Contact time Monday           8:30am to 4:00pm Tuesday          8:30am to 4:00pm Wednesday     9:00am to 12:00pm plus planning Thursday         8:30am to 3:00pm Friday              8:30am to 3:00pm

Position Three - Early Childhood Diploma Educator at Kurrambee Myaring Kindergarten Hours 35.5 hours per week 28 hours contact time (as below) plus 7.5 hours non-contact time 

Contact time Monday        8:30am to 4:00pm Tuesday       8:30am to 4:00pm Wednesday  8:30am to 4:00pm Thursday      Planning Friday           8:30am to 4:00pm

What you will bring to the role
We are looking for Early Childhood Teachers and Diploma Educators who are compassionate, dedicated and driven to making a positive impact on the lives of our local community members and their families. 

To thrive in these role you will have: 

• Knowledge of early childhood development and practice
• Knowledge of approved learning frameworks, National Quality Framework and national law and regulations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Early Childhood Teacher Key selection criteria Mandatory qualifications, experience and requirements

• Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent (AQECQA approved)
• A current Victorian Institute of Teaching Registration (VIT)
• Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and evaluate a quality educational program in accordance with approved learning frameworks. 
• Demonstrated knowledge of the National Quality Framework and quality improvement process in children’s services. 
• Demonstrated ability to adopt an innovative, flexible approach to the provision of children’s services.   
• Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and contribute towards the development of a productive team culture.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
• A current level II First Aid qualification, including Asthma, Anaphylaxis and CPR.
• Demonstrated understanding of the Child Safe Standards and information sharing/MARAM reforms.
• Ability to manage risks and identify health and safety issues pertaining to workplace.

Early Childhood Diploma Educator Key selection criteria Mandatory qualifications, experience and requirements

• Minimum of a Diploma in Children’s Services from an ACECQA approved training organisation
• Demonstrated experience working with children and families
• Experience in assisting in the development and implementation of an educational program in accordance with approved learning frameworks
• Knowledge of the National Quality Framework and an understanding of how this impacts on daily practice
• Excellent skills in verbal and written communication with children, staff and the wider community
• Demonstrated ability to work flexibly and collaboratively with all staff
• Ability to manage risks and identify health and safety issues pertaining to workplace
• Mandatory Reporting Training certificate completed annually
• Mandatory Child Safety training, both Foundation and Advanced
• A current level II First Aid qualification, including Asthma, Anaphylaxis and CPR.
