Apollo Care is seeking an experienced Work Health Safety Manager to lead our national workplace health and safety strategy across our residential aged care, home care and corporate operations.
Reporting to the Quality and Compliance Manager, this is a senior role with the opportunity to influence safety culture, strengthen systems and drive meaningful improvements across a growing organisation.
Working remotely, you’ll partner with Executive leaders, operational managers and teams across Apollo Care.
About the role
As our Work Health Safety Manager, you will provide organisation-wide leadership across:
- Developing and implementing Apollo Care’s national WHS strategy and annual plans
- Leading WHS governance, risk management, assurance and continuous improvement
- Identifying and managing emerging and systemic workplace safety risks
- Leading investigations into serious incidents, high-risk events and significant injury trends
- Overseeing workers’ compensation, injury management and return-to-work programs
- Supporting managers to develop safe, suitable and sustainable return-to-work arrangements
- Maintaining oversight of WHS legislative and regulatory compliance across relevant jurisdictions
- Managing relationships with WorkCover insurers, regulators, rehabilitation providers, consultants and legal advisers
- Preparing high-quality WHS reports, trend analysis and recommendations for Executive and Board committees
- Building WHS capability through education, coaching, practical resources and manager support
- Driving a proactive safety culture where safety is visible, embedded and continuously improved
About you
We’re looking for an experienced WHS leader who brings:
- Tertiary qualification in WHS, occupational health, risk management, rehabilitation or a related discipline, with a minimum of five years’ senior WHS leadership experience
- Experience leading WHS programs across multiple sites, ideally within aged care, healthcare, disability, community services or another complex environment
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations and contemporary safety management systems
- Demonstrated experience across WHS strategy, workers’ compensation, injury management, return-to-work and safety systems
- Strong incident investigation and Root Cause Analysis capability, with the ability to analyse data and turn insights into practical improvements
- Excellent communication, reporting and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work with senior leaders
- A Return-to-Work Coordinator/injury management qualification; experience with ICAM, WHS auditing, Lead Auditor training or Certificate IV in Training and Assessment will be highly regarded
