About the role
54 Reasons is leading a Youth Justice Pilot with the aim of the Pilot to reduce the volume of children and young people (aged 10 – 17) experiencing avoidable short-term remand. For the Pilot, short-term remand is defined as instances where a child or young person is refused bail by Police and subsequently granted bail by a magistrate at their first court appearance (usually within 24 hours). A key Pilot priority is to reduce the overrepresentation of Aboriginal young people experiencing avoidable short-term remand.
54 reasons is Australia’s leading child rights organisation – no ordinary not-for-profit.
Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we’re here to make sure that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.
With the child’s voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities. From our programs to our support services - this is the place to realise your purpose.
A place to make a difference:
In this part time (4 days per week at 30.4 hours per week/flexible shifts from 9 am – 5 pm and 10 am – 6 pm) maximum term (till end of June 27) role, you’ll work with children, young people and families across the Mobile Youth Outreach program, as components of the Short-Term Remand Pilot Project. You’ll deliver weekly mobile youth programs that support assertive outreach and after school programming for children and young people as well as monthly community events as well as utilise group facilitation skills and a variety of creative digital technologies from the Mobile Youth Van to meet young people where they’re at in the Wagga Wagga region.
You’ll make a difference by:
A place to feel valued:
Your deep expertise in working with First Nations leaders, communities and organisations will be invaluable. You’re a skilled communicator and relationship-builder, able to navigate complex dynamics and engage with diverse audiences. You’re self-organised, proactive, and committed to continuous learning and improvement.
