Workshop Foreman / General Manager

About the role

This is a unique senior position combining workshop leadership and technical knowledge with the day-to-day management, customer service and administration of a busy mechanical workshop. The role suits an experienced Motor Mechanic or Diesel Motor Mechanic who is ready to transition away from being permanently on the tools and into a senior workshop management position. You will support technicians on the workshop floor, while also confidently managing customers, quoting, parts, suppliers, fleet requirements and general workshop administration.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate workshop workflow and job allocation

• Support technicians with technical knowledge and repair planning

• Review inspection findings

• Prepare quotes and repair recommendations

• Communicate with customers

• Source and order parts

• Liaise with suppliers

• Manage fleet customers and purchase orders

• Oversee job cards and invoicing

• Monitor jobs and workshop productivity

About you

• Extensive automotive workshop experience

• Strong mechanical knowledge

• Relevant Motor Mechanic or Diesel Motor Mechanic trade qualification highly regarded

• Organised and confident communicating with customers and technicians

• Computer literate

• Able to prioritise changing workshop demands

• Capable of taking genuine ownership of the position
