Depot Supervisor

Gemco Rail, a subsidiary of Engenco Limited is the leading independent provider of rollingstock maintenance, products and services to the Australian and New Zealand rail markets.

Gemco Rail specialises in the manufacture, maintenance and overhaul of wagons, locomotives, passenger cars, rollingstock components and track maintenance equipement to support our customers to maintain their operations effectively and efficiently and maximise the life of their assets.

Gemco Rail is seeking a Depot Supervisor to join our Dynon team. This role is responsible for leading day-to-day maintenance activities, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Working closely with production teams, planning, HSEQ, and customers, you will support the delivery of locomotive and rolling stock maintenance services while maintaining compliance, quality, and performance outcomes.

This role will report to Fleet Delivery Manager.

Key Responsibilities of this role include:

• Lead and promote a strong safety culture across all maintenance activities.
• Supervise daily workshop operations, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
• Manage locomotive defects, repairs, and return-to-service readiness.
• Coordinate labour, materials, and resources to meet production and customer requirements.
• Monitor quality, compliance, and maintenance documentation.
• Conduct toolbox talks, pre-start meetings, and support risk management activities.
• Manage production issues, rework, and workforce coverage to minimise operational disruptions.
• Maintain accurate records, job status updates, and costing information within business systems.
• Work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure maintenance targets and delivery schedules are achieved.
• Support investigations, continuous improvement initiatives, and other maintenance activities as required.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
• Excellent time management and organisational skills
• Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude
• Trade qualification (desirable)
• Experience using SAP or similar systems
• Strong customer service and stakeholder engagement skills
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
• Minimum 3 years Rolling Stock experience with broad technical and industry knowledge
