Pulteney Grammar School is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Music educator to join our Performing Arts team in 2027 as Assistant Head of Performing Arts / Middle & Senior Music Teacher.
This full-time position combines a 0.2 FTE leadership allocation as Assistant Head of Performing Arts with a 0.8 FTE Middle and Senior School Music teaching load, providing an exciting opportunity for an accomplished Music teacher looking to contribute to both the leadership and delivery of a vibrant Performing Arts program.
Working closely with the Head of Performing Arts, the successful candidate will support the curricular and co-curricular Performing Arts program across Music, Dance, Drama, Digital Music and Music Theatre, while contributing to performances, ensembles, productions and events across the School.
About the roleThe successful candidate will:
Support the Head of Performing Arts in the leadership, organisation and delivery of the School’s Performing Arts programs.
Teach Music across Years 7–10, with the ability to teach SACE Stage 1 and 2 Music viewed favourably.
Support and direct instrumental and/or choral ensembles within the curricular and co-curricular program.
Contribute to School productions, concerts, performances, events and special projects.
Support the coordination of the School’s Peripatetic Instrumental Music program.
Promote student participation and engagement in Performing Arts across the School.
Build positive relationships with students, colleagues, families and the wider School community.
You will be an engaging and collaborative educator with a genuine passion for Music and Performing Arts. You will bring:
Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Secondary Music Teaching or an equivalent qualification.
Current Teacher Registration in South Australia.
Relevant experience teaching Music in the Middle and/or Senior years.
Strong instrumental and/or choral ensemble skills.
Experience directing ensembles such as concert bands, stage bands, orchestral or choral ensembles.
Excellent communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.
A collaborative, positive and student-centred approach.
A willingness to contribute actively to the wider curricular and co-curricular life of the School.
Experience teaching SACE Music and/or Kodály teaching methodology would be highly regarded.
