Mechanical Equipment Specialist

We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Equipment Specialist to join our Coke Plant 1 Asset Team.

This is a hands-on technical role where you’ll combine your mechanical trade expertise with your ability to identify issues, solve problems and find better ways to maintain and extend the life of critical equipment.

You’ll work closely with the broader maintenance team, providing technical guidance, supporting work execution and using your knowledge of equipment condition and maintenance history to help us make better decisions.

• 9 Day Fortnight: Employees work a 9-day fortnight, consisting of 8.5-hour days, with the worked Friday being an 8-hour day.

What you'll be doing

No two days will look exactly the same. You’ll be involved in:

• Providing mechanical technical guidance and support to the team.
• Monitoring equipment condition and identifying potential issues before they become problems.
• Developing maintenance scopes, plans and work orders for routine, shutdown and breakdown activities.
• Supporting Asset Improvement Coordinators with day-to-day maintenance activities.
• Creating and managing work orders through SAP.
• Maintaining accurate equipment and maintenance history and ensuring critical spares are available and fit for purpose.
• Contributing to maintenance strategy and identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and performance.
• Participating in root cause analysis and other improvement activities.
• Supporting isolation coordination when required.
• Working alongside multi-disciplinary teams and getting hands-on when the job requires it.

Most importantly, you’ll bring a curious and practical mindset, looking beyond the immediate fix to understand how we can improve reliability, extend equipment life and do things better.

About You

You may already be working in an Equipment Specialist, Reliability, Maintenance or Technical role, or be an experienced mechanical tradesperson ready to take the next step. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys solving problems and is committed to making a positive contribution to their team.

You’ll bring:

• Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade.
• Diploma of Engineering, or willingness to undertake a company funded qualification.
• Relevant heavy industrial maintenance experience, ideally across mining, petrochemical, chemical, manufacturing or similar environments.
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, valves, brakes, clutches and mechanical equipment.
• Experience in root cause analysis and condition monitoring.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• A strong commitment to HSEQ.
• NSW Driver Licence and White Card.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously.
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement.
• Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, Outlook and SAP or Oracle for planning and scheduling requirements.
