Glencore Port Operations are currently advertising an opportunity that exist for the position of an Operator vacancy. Reporting to the Supervisor – Operations. This position is residentially based in Townsville. The position will operate on a mixture of a 4x4 12hr shift roster with additional hours available as required. About the Role

As an Operator with Glencore Port Operations, you will play a critical role in the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of Townsville Port facilities. Reporting to the Supervisor – Operations, this residential position supports the final link in Glencore’s North Queensland supply chain, ensuring mineral concentrates and fertiliser are safely received, stored, and shipped to global markets.

Working on a 4x4, 12 hour day and night shift roster, you will be responsible for a combination of operational and basic maintenance activities across port infrastructure. This role offers hands on exposure to large scale material handling systems in a heavy industrial environment, while working as part of a skilled operations team that prioritises safety, teamwork, and operational excellence. The position suits individuals who enjoy practical, physical work, take ownership of their tasks, and are committed to maintaining high standards of safety and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate port equipment and facilities to support rail unloading, stockpile management, and ship loading operations
• Perform day to day operational tasks associated with handling mineral concentrates and fertiliser products
• Monitor plant and equipment condition, identifying and reporting faults, defects, or abnormal operating conditions
• Assist with routine maintenance activities to support equipment availability and reliability
• Ensure all work is conducted in accordance with site procedures, permits, and safety standards
• Maintain clear communication with supervisors and team members to coordinate operational activities
• Support safe start ups, shutdowns, and changeovers as required
• Maintain accurate records and complete operational documentation as required
• Housekeep work areas to ensure a clean, organised, and compliant operating environment
• Engage positively with other operational teams, contractors, and service providers to support port operations

The successful candidate will possess:

• Self-starting attitude, as well as the ability to work well in a team
• Heavy industry experience will be viewed favourably
• Exposure to material handling operational work
• License in forklift (LF, RIIHAN201D) is preferable
• Wheeled front end loader operations

We strongly encourage operational personnel who have experience in heavy operational sites.
