Keysborough Secondary College is a multi-campus school with one campus in Keysborough (Acacia Campus) and one in Springvale South (Banksia Campus). Both campuses offer programs for students in years 7-12 with an organisational structure arranged around Junior and Senior sub-schools. 

Enrolments in the College stand at around 2300 and are growing.  The College provides a broad range of VCE, VCE-VM and VET subjects for our students across the two campuses. The College also has a significant International Students Program with its own ELC.

Student achievement and engagement is generally above Like School groups and retention is high. Our student population is culturally and linguistically diverse and characterised by families of high SFOE as a result of which the college attracts significant Equity Funding. General Satisfaction with the College, as measured by the Parent Opinion Survey, is consistently high and in 2024 was 86%.

At Keysborough Secondary College we promote teaching and learning that is collaborative, technology rich, reflective, purposeful and personalised that prepares students for our rapidly changing world. Our Teaching and Learning model employ evidence-based practices aligned with the VTLM 2.0 to create engaging learning environments that foster academic and personal growth. We have a strong emphasis on teaching teams through the Professional Learning Communities and Domain Teams, which enables staff to work collaboratively to provide an engaging and rigorous curriculum. Provision of opportunities for targeted intervention, and extension and enrichment are included in the learning program to ensure that students are supported at the point of need.

Keysborough Secondary College has undergone an extensive renewal program with the construction of two Junior Village neighbourhoods, a Senior Village neighbourhood, and a purpose-built STEM Centre on each Campus. Construction or refurbishment of a Food Technology, The Arts and Technology Centre on each campus has also been completed. The final stage has been completed for the new Administration Centre on the Banksia Campus and the refurbishment of the Music area at the Acacia Campus.

We are looking for a Maintenance / Gardener to join our fantastic Maintenance team at Keysborough SC. The role is fulltime across 5 days however this can be negotiated for the right applicant. Hours of attendance are (either) 7am - 3:06pm or 8am - 4:06pm depending on the successful applicant's preference. Remuneration is in line with the current VGSA2022 Education Support Level 1, Range 2 commencing at $56,580 (step 1) through to $72,460 (step 8) per annum.

The successful applicant can work independently and collaboratively, completing tasks accurately and in a timely manner, able to prioritise and meet deadlines, show initiative and accept supportive and constructive feedback in a positive way. We require a reliable person who can follow instructions and make safe, informed decisions when necessary.

An education support class position at this range will perform tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program.

An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of a teacher as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students can be required individually or in groups up to 4 in controlled circumstances and where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years can be required at this level (noting that Registered Nurse is not included at this level, the first level for which is Level 1 range 3).

A role at this range may include:

• Specific support tasks to achieve outcomes. Typically, this will involve accountability for a single function, (e.g. ensuring data is properly maintained) or the co-ordination of a work area under the direction of the principal or a manager.
• Assisting teachers, within an educational program, by undertaking specific support tasks or the coordination of the support function.
• Supervised health and wellbeing support tasks, medical intervention support tasks, or other specialised student/teacher support roles (e.g. enrolled nurses performing the role as described in schedule 3). These roles require specific qualifications and/or training, including roles where further training must be undertaken from time to time. The role is for a specific purpose, for which there will be direct accountability as opposed to support roles that are carried out by a range of staff performing routine tasks under direction.
• Technical tasks that require a sound knowledge of basic technical and/or scientific principles that are used to develop and adapt work methods and make judgements where there are clear guidelines and limited options. Routine technical support in libraries, science, and information technology would be typical examples.

An education support class position at this range commencing at the base will initially be limited to undertaking routine tasks that are carried out under close supervision and direction. Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed on a regular basis where priorities are clear, procedures are well established, and direction is readily available. Subject to any specific qualification and/or training requirement, an education support class employee employed in this range may be progressively required to undertake coordination, specialised student/teacher support tasks, or technical tasks as experience in the role is gained.

The responsibilities of this position will be:

• opening and closing the College on rotation at the beginning and end of the school day
• carry out general works on buildings and grounds as required and/or when instructed
• utilise common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills and wrenches to provide basic repairs and maintenance to various school facilities
• provide routine support tasks with respect to grounds and building maintenance
• identify and report the need for repairs where required
• undertake painting, metal work and carpentry tasks where required
• install appliances and equipment
• undertake minor concrete work, paving and associated path work
• undertake minor plumbing (leaking taps, blocked toilets) and minor electrical (light globe replacement) where required
• conduct general maintenance tasks such as, but not limited to:
  • replacing light bulbs
  • unblocking sinks and drains
  • filling gaps in walls and repairing wall damage
  • repairs to locks, doors and cupboards
  • repair of inside and outside furniture
  • clearing and maintaining the spouts and downpipes
• conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment
• diagnose mechanical issues and correcting them
• repair machines, equipment or structures as necessary
• maintain all grounds, gardens and trees ensuring they are neat, trimmed and healthy
• undertake regular lawn mowing, garden tidy, rubbish pick up, bins emptied, raking leaves, pruning as requested/instructed
• perform minor landscaping works on the grounds in consultation with the Campus AP and Facilities Manager
• check functionality of safety systems in association with regulatory bodies
• be responsible for the ordering and delivery of materials as required and approved by the Facilities Manager
• collaborate with contractors when professional repairs are necessary or during renovations as instructed
• report in a timely manner to the Facilities Manager
• ability to identify Occupational Health and Safety issues and report to the College Administration
• be familiar with College OH&S standards and requirements
• ensure email communications and etiquette are of a respectful and professional manner
• report to the Facilities Manager and Principal Class any OH&S issues identified within the College grounds
• attend monthly Maintenance Team meetings
• work independently and/or with a minimum of supervision within a team environment
• work cross campus when instructed by the Facilities Manager and/or Principal Class team
• undertake additional duties as directed by the Facilities Manager and/or the Principal Class team.
