Your New Role
As the Nurse Practitioner Candidate – Emergency Mental Health Parallel Care Clinician, you will deliver advanced, person-centred mental health care within the Emergency Department while developing your Nurse Practitioner capabilities under clinical supervision. Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, you will help improve outcomes for consumers experiencing mental health, behavioural health and substance use presentations.
Provide advanced mental health assessment, intervention and care planning for consumers presenting to the Emergency Department, working alongside medical teams to deliver timely, evidence-based care.Develop extended clinical practice skills under the mentorship and supervision of an endorsed Nurse Practitioner or medical officer while contributing to innovative models of mental health care.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, consumers, families and carers to support shared decision-making, coordinated care and safe discharge or referral pathways.
About you:
You are a passionate and experienced registered nurse with advanced mental health knowledge who is committed to delivering compassionate, recovery-focused care while progressing towards Nurse Practitioner endorsement. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, value collaboration and are driven to continually improve patient outcomes through evidence-based practice.
Registered Nurse with current NMBA registration, eligible for or enrolled in an accredited Nurse Practitioner Master's program, with demonstrated advanced practice experience in mental health and/or addiction services.Highly developed clinical assessment, critical thinking and decision-making skills, with the ability to provide safe, person-centred care for consumers with complex mental health, behavioural health and substance use needs.Strong communication, leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships, educate others and work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.A commitment to professional development, quality improvement, research and innovation, with a focus on delivering contemporary, evidence-based care.
