About the Role

The City of Yarra's Senior Support Services Unit is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Food Services Assistant to support the delivery of nutritious meals to older people living in our community.

Working as part of a dedicated team, you will assist with packing and delivering meals using your own vehicle, ensuring meals are delivered safely, efficiently and with excellent customer service. The role also includes supporting clients with basic information about meal storage and serving, monitoring client wellbeing during deliveries, and reporting any concerns to the appropriate staff.

Depending on operational requirements, you may also assist with meal preparation, plating and serving, and provide support during our weekly Community Lunch program. Maintaining high food safety, hygiene and quality standards is an important part of this role.

This is a rewarding opportunity to build meaningful connections with older members of our community while contributing to services that support people to live independently at home.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Food Safety and Handling Level 1 Certificate (essential)

• Knowledge of safe food handling and hygiene practices

• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills

• A caring, respectful and customer-focused approach

• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team

• A current Victorian Driver Licence and access to a registered, comprehensively insured vehicle for work purposes

• The ability to undertake manual handling associated with food preparation and meal delivery

This position is subject to satisfactory Police Check, Working with Children Check, screening against the Aged Care and Disability Banning Order Register to ensure eligibility to work in the sector and a pre-employment medical assessment prior to commencement.
