Draft Prospects are seeking an enthusiastic, reliable and dedicated Academy Coach to join our team at Floreat, WA.
This is a casual coaching position suited to someone who is passionate about AFL, enjoys working with young footballers and wants to make a meaningful impact on the development of the next generation of footballers.
About the role
As an Academy Coach, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality AFL coaching and skill-development sessions while creating a positive, challenging and engaging environment where players can learn, develop and reach their potential.
You will be expected to uphold the high standards of coaching, professionalism and athlete development that are central to the Draft Prospects program.
Essential Requirements
Must be available Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 5:30pm–6:30pm during Term 4, 2026 and Term 1, 2027. Additional hours are available and can be arranged flexibly around your availability.
Minimum of one year's coaching experience or previous experience working with children.
Strong technical AFL skills and understanding of the game.
Ability to confidently communicate with and engage young footballers across a wide range of ages.
Reliable, punctual and well organised.
Strong vocally with the confidence to coach with energy and enthusiasm.
A genuine passion for AFL and youth development.
Working With Children Check or willingness to obtain one.
Willingness to obtain a National Police Clearance if not already held.
Driver's licence.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
Previous AFL playing experience at WAFL or Senior PFL level (Desirable but not essential).
AFL Coaching Accreditation Level 1 or higher (Desirable but not essential).
Previous experience coaching within a junior, school, club or academy environment.
Knowledge of current coaching methodologies and best practice in youth athlete development.
Experience working within a high-performance or talent-development environment.
Key responsibilities
Deliver high-quality AFL coaching and skill-development sessions.
Assist with the planning and delivery of Draft Prospects Academy sessions.
Develop players' fundamental skills, football understanding and decision-making.
Provide constructive feedback, encouragement and mentoring to athletes.
Create a positive, challenging and inclusive coaching environment.
Maintain appropriate supervision and duty of care of all athletes.
Follow Draft Prospects coaching standards, policies and procedures.
Communicate professionally with athletes, parents and other staff.
Arrive punctually and be fully prepared for every session.
Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the Academy program.
Complete reasonable administrative and professional development tasks associated with the role.
Represent Draft Prospects professionally at all times.

Draft Prospects is an AFL mentoring, development and talent pathway program designed to help young footballers maximise their potential.
Our Boys Academy caters for players in Years 2–10, providing talented young footballers with year-round access to a high-quality development environment.
Our philosophy is centred around skill development, football understanding, confidence and high standards. We provide players with the opportunity to train alongside like-minded athletes in an environment that challenges them to continually improve.
We believe young footballers benefit from quality coaching, consistent development and exposure to an environment that encourages them to raise their standards and strive towards their individual potential.
