About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Boarding, the Boarding House Assistant plays an important role in supporting the wellbeing, safety and day-to-day life of our boarding students. Working as part of a dedicated Boarding House team, you will help create a welcoming, caring and well-organised environment where students feel supported, connected and at home.

This is a varied role that includes supervising students during study, recreational and social activities, providing pastoral care and guidance, assisting with the daily operation of the Boarding House, and supporting students to develop independence and positive relationships.

This is a casual, term-time role with shifts available across mornings, evenings, overnight stays and weekends. Accommodation is provided for overnight shifts, with meals supplied while on duty.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide supervision, care and support to boarding students throughout their daily routines.
• Assist with study supervision and encourage positive academic habits.
• Support students' wellbeing through positive relationships, guidance and pastoral care.
• Supervise students during recreational activities, outings and weekend programmes.
• Assist with the day-to-day operation and organisation of the Boarding House.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming and respectful boarding environment.
• Monitor student wellbeing and communicate any concerns to Boarding leadership.
• Assist with administrative tasks and general housekeeping duties as required.
• Work collaboratively with the Boarding House team to deliver a positive boarding experience.

About You

You are a caring, reliable and approachable person who enjoys working with young people. You have excellent communication skills, sound judgement and the ability to build positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. You are flexible, proactive and enjoy working as part of a supportive team.

Essential Requirements

• Current Working with Children Check.
• Current National Police Clearance.
• Current Senior First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain.
• Current Western Australian Driver's Licence.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Reliable, organised and professional approach.
• Commitment to student wellbeing, child safety and the values of PLC.

Desirable

• Experience working with young people in a boarding, school, youth or community environment.
• Experience providing pastoral care or student support.
• Bronze Medallion or willingness to obtain.
• Experience supervising groups of young people in residential or educational settings.
