Help someone stay connected to the people, places and activities they enjoy.

As a Transport & Outings Volunteer, you'll support palliative care patients by providing transport and companionship to appointments and outings within their local community. Whether it's a visit to a café, a stroll by the beach, a trip to the shops, an art gallery, or a medical appointment, your time and support can help someone maintain independence, connection, and quality of life.

Many of our patients are unable to drive themselves and greatly value the opportunity to get out of the house, enjoy meaningful activities, and spend time with a friendly companion.

About the Role

• Drive patients to medical appointments and community outings.
  
• Provide companionship and a friendly presence during outings.
  
• Support patients to stay connected with their community.
  
• Communicate any changes or concerns to the Volunteer Coordinator.
  

We're Looking for Someone Who Is

• Warm, friendly, and reliable.
  
• Enjoys conversation and building meaningful connections.
  
• Comfortable supporting people living with a serious illness.
  
• Patient, compassionate, and respectful.
  
• A confident driver with a current driver's licence.
  
• Able to communicate effectively with staff and volunteers.
  

Requirements

• Current driver's licence.
  
• Access to a registered and insured vehicle.
  
• Comprehensive motor vehicle insurance.
  
• National Police Check (organised and paid for by HammondCare).
  
• Willingness to meet required health screening and immunisation requirements.

Ideally, you'll be available for 1-2 hour per fortnight commitment, Weekday daytime hour (between 9am and 4pm)

Volunteers must be aged 18+ and meet HammondCare's immunisation requirements. • C class driving licence and safe driving record • National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare •
