The role

Reporting to the CFO, you'll be second-in-charge of finance and their key delegate. This is a hands-on leadership role: you take ownership of the day-to-day running of the function so the CFO can focus on strategic and commercial priorities.

You'll own the monthly, half-year and annual reporting cycles, lead budgeting and forecasting, and deliver the analysis that shapes decisions across the Executive, Operations, Project Delivery and Sales teams. You'll also work with our external Fund Management team on monthly fund reporting.

Beyond the reporting calendar, you'll own the finance systems roadmap — leading the implementation of new construction and accounting software, documenting processes, and automating the recurring work that currently eats the team's time.

What you'll be responsible for

1. Monthly, half-year and annual reporting, budgeting and forecasting

2. Management reporting and commercial insight for the group

3. Revenue reconciliation, COGS and WIP accounting across development projects, plus settlements

4. Monthly fund reporting across our fund and trust structures

5. Multi-state tax and compliance — payroll tax, IAS, BAS, land tax declarations and ATO reportable items

6. Finance systems ownership, process documentation and automation

7. Audit preparation and review-ready workpapers

8. Leading, mentoring and developing the finance team

About you

1. CA/CPA qualified with at least five years as a Finance Manager in a multi-entity or multi-site business

2. Proven as a 2IC or deputy — you've taken full ownership of a function and a team

3. Strong commercial and management accounting capability

4. A systems and process improvement mindset, with a track record of documenting and automating

5. Comfortable under pressure and competing deadlines, without losing accuracy

6. Advanced Excel; advanced Xero and/or construction accounting software

7. Able to explain financial information clearly to non-finance managers

Highly regarded: development feasibility software such as EstateMaster, fund and trust reporting, and experience implementing or migrating finance systems. Property development, land lease, construction or real estate background is a plus.
