Salary Range: $190,168 – $205,844 + Vehicle Allowance ($26,000 incl Super) + 12% Superannuation

Mid West Ports Authority (MWPA) is seeking an experienced Commercial and Procurement Manager to lead its Procurement, Commercial and Stores/inventory functions during a period of significant regional growth.

Mid West Ports Authority is a proudly Western Australian Government owned Port Authority.

Servicing WA’s Mid West region, it plays a pivotal role in facilitating more than 21.6 million tonnes of global trade each year supporting the growth of our region and connecting the Mid West to the world.

Currently operating the Port of Geraldton, Mid West Ports Authority is moving to a multi-port model to ensure that port options are developed to match the pace of growth in our regions.

While it predominantly operates bulk exports in iron ore, grain and mineral sands, its role in trade and tourism continues to diversify and thrive.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role is responsible for setting the strategic direction of MWPA's Procurement, Commercial and Stores/Inventory functions. This senior role is integral to establishing strategic long-term partnerships with suppliers and contractors that support MWPA and State Government priorities. This includes leading procurement and sourcing activities, implementing contemporary inventory management practices, optimising business processes, managing tender processes, developing contractual frameworks and negotiating commercial agreements that deliver value for money while minimising organisational risk.

Some of the responsibilities you will be responsible for:

• Manage supplier and contractor contracts throughout the contract lifecycle
• Lead contract negotiations, variations, renewals and dispute resolution
• Lead tendering, sourcing and market engagement activities
• Supplier Stakeholder Management
• Manage procurement and contract audits, reporting and governance activities
• Oversee inventory reporting, optimisation and stock governance

Experience in ports, industrial land, infrastructure, leasing, government development or regulated environments will be highly regarded.

About You

Key qualifications and experience:

Essential

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business, Law, Procurement, Supply Chain, Contract Management or a related discipline.
• Continuous Improvement qualification or demonstrated experience in process optimisation and business improvement
• 10+ years' experience in a senior commercial, contracts, procurement or supply chain leadership role.
• Significant experience managing complex, high-value contracts throughout the post-award lifecycle, including performance management, variations, extensions, claims, disputes, compliance and contractor relationship management.
• Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, mitigate risks and deliver value from contractual arrangements.
• Proven experience negotiating and managing complex commercial agreements and contract outcomes.
• Sound understanding of contract law principles, governance frameworks and contract administration practices.
• Experience developing and implementing contract management frameworks, policies and procedures.
• Strong financial acumen with the ability to assess commercial impacts, analyse contract performance and support business decision-making.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence, negotiate and build trusted relationships across all organisational levels.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to identify opportunities, anticipate challenges and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Outstanding negotiation, conflict resolution and problem-solving capabilities.
• Results-focused leader who establishes high-performance standards and accountability.
• Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to operate autonomously and manage competing priorities.
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of commercial reports, contract correspondence and executive briefings.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and contract management or ERP systems.
