About the role

The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH), part of Melbourne Health, is a world-class teaching hospital and one of Victoria’s largest Trauma Centres. Ward 3SW provides care for Elective & Acute Surgical patients with Colorectal, Hepatobilliary & Abdominal Trauma patients. We are a 20-bed ward with supportive Multidisciplinary team.

We are seeking a Ward Clerk to provide high-quality administrative and clerical support within the Acute surgical ward. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be a key point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff, supporting the coordination of patient admissions, discharges and transfers while ensuring accurate maintenance of patient records and effective day-to-day operations.

Key Accountabilities

• Provide administrative and clerical support, maintaining accurate patient records.
• Deliver professional, patient-focused service to patients, visitors and staff.
• Support patient admissions, discharges and transfers with the multidisciplinary team.
• Liaise with clinical, support and hospital teams, patients and families.
• Coordinate reception and administrative tasks to support efficient ward operations.

• Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
• Relevant administration experience and sound computer skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Patient-focused approach with a commitment to positive experiences
• Ability to prioritise, use initiative and work effectively in a busy environment
• Flexible, reliable and receptive to direction and learning
