Diverse Learning Assistant [Internal]

The Opportunity:

We currently have several opportunities for Diverse Learning Assistants to provide direct and timely specialist assistance to students who have additional learning and support needs within the Junior School and Middle and Senior School. Reporting to the relevant Diverse Learning Coordinator, the Diverse Learning Assistant will pay particular attention to students who experience barriers to their learning, and those needing support to extend and enrich their learning and capabilities.

The roles available:
Junior School
0.6 FTE, permanent position
0.873 FTE (32.75 hours per week), 12-month contract
0.493 FTE (18.5 hours per week), 12-month contract
0.7 FTE (26.25 hours per week), 12-month contract [Autism Informed DLA]

Middle and Senior School
2x 0.6 FTE, permanent positions
1x 0.6 FTE, 12-month contract
2x 1.0 FTE, 12-month contracts
Casual contracts 

The role:

• Assist with the development of appropriate programs for students in consultation with the Diverse Learning Coordinator, Heads of School and classroom teachers
• Implement and review programs under the direction of the Diverse Learning Coordinator, Heads of School and classroom teachers
• Under the direction of the Diverse Learning Coordinator, provide one-to-one or small group support for students who require learning support or enrichment (either in the classroom or during withdrawal from classroom)
• Ability to collaborate with other Pedare staff
• Ability to relate well to students, recognising both the pastoral and educative aspects of the student-teacher relationship
• Maintain an interest in the welfare of students and promote the wellbeing of students
• Some out of hours may be required due to role requirements
