Construction Estimator

About the role

Ten Recruitment a pleased to represent a leading construction contractor as a full-time Commercial/Residential Estimator based in Western Australia, with opportunities to work from either a metropolitan or regional office. 

In this strategic role, you will be responsible for providing reliable cost estimates for projects up to $10M. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial part in supporting the company’s competitive position within the construction industry.

What you'll be doing

• Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for a range of commercial construction projects
• Coordinate estimate preparation, calculate and prepare quantities, and compile tender submissions
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing
• Analyse and solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment
• Review project plans, drawings, and specifications to identify materials, labour, and equipment requirements
• Research and evaluate supplier pricing to ensure cost-effective solutions
• Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to refine estimates and identify cost savings
• Build and maintain strong commercial relationships with clients and subcontractors
• Maintain a comprehensive database of historical cost data to inform future estimates
• Provide guidance and support throughout tender and bidding processes
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating systems and processes
• Work independently and manage multiple projects confidently
• Undertake tendering and bid preparation, including scope review, risk assessment, and complexity analysis

What we're looking for

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Commercial Estimator within the construction industry
• Strong technical ability in reading and interpreting construction plans, drawings, and specifications
• Proficiency in estimating software and digital tools (experience with Procore and CostX desirable)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on cost efficiency
• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Exposure to a variety of project types including commercial, industrial, and design & construct projects
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Estimating, or related field
