About the role
A Better Life Home Care Services Pty Ltd is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team on a casual basis. Based in Mount Waverley VIC, this role offers the flexibility of casual work whilst making a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disabilities. As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide essential support and assistance to individuals with varying support needs, helping them to maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life within their own homes and communities.
Key responsibilities
Assist clients with personal care activities including hygiene, grooming, dressing and toileting
Provide mobility assistance and help clients move safely and comfortably
Support clients with meal preparation and feeding as required
Assist with household tasks such as light cleaning and laundry to maintain a safe living environment
Provide companionship and emotional support to promote wellbeing and social inclusion
Support clients in accessing community activities and social engagement opportunities
Monitor and report on client health, safety and wellbeing concerns to relevant team members
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of support provided and any incidents or changes in client needs
Respect client privacy, dignity and rights at all times in accordance with disability support standards
Work collaboratively with other support staff, family members and healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated care
What we're looking for
A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and promoting their independence and wellbeing
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with clients
Physical capability to assist clients with mobility and personal care tasks
Patience, empathy and compassion when working with vulnerable individuals
Ability to work independently and use sound judgment in responding to client needs
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in maintaining records and documentation
Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and respecting privacy at all times
Reliability and flexibility with a willingness to adapt to changing client needs
Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain this
Working with Children Check (WWC) and National Police Clearance required
A valid Australian driver's licence and access to reliable transport are advantageous
Relevant qualifications such as Certificate III or IV in Disability Support or Community Services are preferred but not essential if you have equivalent experience
