Venue Rigger

Afterpay Arena is currently looking for an experienced entertainment rigger to join our full-time Technical Operations team. This is an opportunity to be part of Australia's leading entertainment venue and help deliver world-class events.

About the Role

The Venue Rigger is the second-in-charge (2IC) within the Arena's rigging team and provides direct operational and supervisory support to the Venue Head Rigger. This hands-on role is responsible for leading rigging crews, coordinating workflow, supporting the planning and execution of rigging activities, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with venue standards and industry regulations.

Key Position Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate rigging crews across roof and ground operations.

• Act as second-in-charge to the Venue Head Rigger and deputise in their absence.

• Lead rigging calls, including load-ins and load-outs.

• Interpret and review rigging plots, assist with mark-ups and bridle builds.

• Deliver toolbox talks and mentor rigging crew members.

• Monitor compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.

• Conduct inspections and checks of rigging equipment.

• Contribute to the ongoing development and capability of the rigging team.

• Flexible to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.

• Passionate about live entertainment and events.

Competencies Required

• Minimum 3 years’ rigging experience in a live entertainment environment.

• Demonstrated supervisory experience.

• Intermediate or Advanced Rigging licence.

• EWP and Forklift licences.

• White Card required; Yellow Card desirable.

• Current NSW Driver Licence and National Police Check.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD (or similar).

• Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
