Join us at Central West Local Land Services, the Regional Delivery Partner for the Australian Government's National Heritage Trust program. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced First Nations Cultural Broker to play a pivotal role in fostering meaningful connections with First Nations people and organisations within our region.

What You Will Be Responsible For

As a First Nations Cultural Broker, you will help shape and deliver our Indigenous Participation Plan and support the First Nations commitments in the program Deed. You will build strong relationships, support cultural understanding across our team, and look for practical ways First Nations communities and Local Land Services can work together on sustainable agriculture and natural resource management.

What the role will involve

This role is about building strong, respectful relationships with First Nations communities and helping Central West Local Land Services deliver its First Nations commitments.

You will work closely with First Nations people, organisations and project teams to support meaningful engagement, improve participation, and make sure First Nations knowledge, culture and priorities are respected in our work.

The role will include helping to update and deliver the Indigenous Participation Plan, supporting co-design and engagement activities, and identifying practical ways for First Nations communities and Local Land Services to work together. This will include delivering projects and organising events and activities that bring people together on Country and support their involvement in our programs.

A key part of the role will be maintaining relationships with our First Nations stakeholders through regular conversations, meetings and site visits, while helping remove barriers that may limit participation.

Essential requirements

• Applicants must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and accepted in the community as such. Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1997
• Proven experience in community engagement and collaboration with First Nations people and organisations.
• Advanced communication and community engagement skills, especially in engaging with First Nations community groups
• Proficient project management skills
• Advanced collaboration and teamwork skills including working with small project teams 
• Current NSW Class C Driver Licence and the ability and willingness to travel
