About the role
Your new organisation is one of Australia's largest private bus operators, running public transport, school, and charter services across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. Backed by a major global transport group, they operate a fleet of 500+ buses and coaches out of multiple depots statewide.
This is an opportunity for qualified diesel mechanics to join a depot-based workshop team, maintaining and repairing a heavy vehicle fleet that keeps Victorian communities moving every day.
About this opportunity:
Temp to Perm role with a globally backed, stable employer
Three locations available - Truganina, Westmeadows or Albion
Schedule: 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday
Multiple positions available
Depot-based workshop — no FIFO, no travel
Work on a diverse, multi-brand heavy vehicle fleet
Ongoing training and upskilling supported by the company
Strong safety culture with clear procedures and systems
Supportive team environment across 1,200+ staff
What you'll be doing:
Performing scheduled and general maintenance on the bus fleet
Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults in the workshop and roadside
Conducting roadworthiness inspections and test driving buses to identify issues
Steam cleaning chassis and components ahead of servicing and repairs
Logging all work accurately in the D365 system
Maintaining depot plant and equipment as needed
Ensuring full compliance with VicRoads, Bus Safety Act, and company safety procedures
Reporting all incidents, accidents, and injuries in line with company protocols
To be considered for this role:
Trade Certificate in diesel/heavy vehicle mechanics (or equivalent Australian-recognised qualification)
Experience working on heavy vehicles across multiple brands — bus or coach experience highly regarded, truck and trailer background also considered
Current Victorian driver's licence (not Probationary) with MR endorsement, or willingness to obtain
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
Comfortable working to strict safety and compliance standards
Physically fit — role involves repetitive upper limb work, bending, kneeling, working in confined spaces, and lifting up to 15kg
Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work well in a team
