About the role
FVS Fire is a progressive and innovative leader in the provision of routine service of fire protection systems and equipment to the education, health, commercial, retail and industrial segments of both the private and public sectors.
Due to continued growth, we are currently seeking a motivated and reliable Passive Fire Technician to join our growing team. This role offers a mix of autonomy and teamwork, where you'll play a vital part in ensuring fire safety compliance across various sites. Your primary responsibility will be the installation, inspection, maintenance, and rectification of passive fire protection systems in accordance with Australian Standards.
You'll work with a supportive team and be given the opportunity to expand your knowledge, with ongoing training and development provided to help you succeed and grow within the company.
Experience in passive fire protection (preferred but not essential) or related trades such as:
Minimum 3+ years of carpentry experience required
Building maintenance
General handyman services
A willingness to learn passive fire regulations and systems
Familiarity with AS1851 and NCC/BCA requirements (advantageous)
Construction Induction Card (White Card)
Current Australian Driver's License (mandatory)
Australian citizenship is required for this position
Good communication and organisational skills
Strong attention to detail, ability to work unsupervised, and a proactive attitude
Key Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and rectify passive fire protection systems including:
Fire doors and frames
Fire-rated walls and barriers
Intumescent sealants, collars, batts, and wraps
Door closers and general hardware
Conduct on-site inspections and testing of fire-resistant materials and systems
Identify and seal penetrations and voids in walls/floors using compliant fire-rated products
Work in accordance with AS1851, NCC/BCA standards (training provided as needed)
Accurately complete job sheets, documentation, and reporting
Liaise professionally with clients, site supervisors, and team members
Maintain a strong safety focus and compliance mindset
