Food Coordinator Chef - Childcare I Insight Early Learning

Insight Early Learning - Dunsborough is looking for a Food Coordinator/Chef to join our team. We have full-time and part-time opportunities available, with up to 35 hours per week.

The role will involve preparing fresh, healthy and nutritious meals for the children in our care.

About the Role

As our Food Coordinator/Chef, you will be responsible for planning and preparing fresh, healthy and nutritious meals for the children each day. You’ll cater to dietary requirements and allergies while providing a variety of meals that support healthy eating.

A regular day in this role will involve:

• Planning, preparing and cooking nutritious meals and snacks.

• Catering to dietary requirements, allergies and cultural preferences.

• Planning and reviewing menus to ensure meals are balanced and varied.

• Ordering food supplies and managing food stock and waste.

• Working within the allocated food budget.

• Following food safety, hygiene and health requirements.

• Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and well maintained.

• Supporting food and cooking experiences for children.

• Working collaboratively with the centre team.

• Building positive relationships with children, families and team members.

What You Will Bring

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

• A relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery, Food Preparation or equivalent experience.

• A current Working with Children Check (or be able to obtain one before starting).

• A current Food Handling Certificate and Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.

• Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen, childcare setting, or similar environment.

• Knowledge of nutrition and age-appropriate dietary requirements for young children.

• Experience managing allergies and individual dietary requirements.

• Strong food safety, hygiene and allergen management practices.

• Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to plan and prepare meals efficiently.

• A genuine passion for nutrition and promoting healthy eating in early childhood.

• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
