Lead Educator

About the role

Grassroots Early Learning Centre is seeking a passionate and experienced Lead Educator to join our team on a casual basis. Based in Maudsland, QLD 4210, this role is central to delivering high-quality early childhood education and care to our community. As a Lead Educator, you will take on a strategic role in planning, implementing and evaluating educational programmes whilst fostering a nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment for children in your care. This position offers the flexibility of casual work whilst maintaining the responsibility of leading and mentoring other educators to ensure consistent, quality outcomes across our centre.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and implement engaging, play-based learning experiences that promote children's cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in line with the Early Years Learning Framework

• Assess and document children's progress and learning outcomes, communicating regularly with families about their child's development

• Create and maintain a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment that supports the wellbeing of all children, including those with additional needs

• Lead and supervise other educators and support staff within your designated area, providing guidance and modelling best practice in early childhood education

• Build strong relationships with families and carers, fostering open communication and encouraging parental involvement in children's learning

• Maintain detailed records and documentation as required by regulatory standards and centre policies

• Collaborate with the broader team to ensure smooth daily operations and adherence to health and safety protocols

• Support the professional development of team members through mentoring, coaching and feedback

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of programmes and practices within the centre

What we're looking for:

• A current Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent qualification recognised in Australia)

• Current Working with Children Check

• Current First Aid and CPR certification

• Demonstrated experience working in early childhood education settings, ideally in a lead or supervisory capacity

• Strong knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework and best practice approaches to early childhood education

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues

• Proven ability to lead, mentor and support other educators in a collaborative team environment

• A genuine passion for early childhood development and a child-centred approach to education

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in record-keeping and documentation

• Commitment to inclusive practices and supporting children with diverse learning needs

• Flexibility and adaptability, particularly given the casual nature of this position
