Medical Receptionist

About the role

We're seeking a professional, well-organised Medical Receptionist to be the welcoming first point of contact for our patients across both sites. This is a permanent part-time position — 0.4 FTE, working Tuesdays and Fridays (approximately 15 hours per week), with an immediate start available.

Key responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors and provide a warm, professional first impression

• Answer and manage incoming calls, emails and enquiries

• Book, confirm, reschedule and manage appointments

• Prepare, open and close consulting rooms

• Accurate data entry and maintenance of patient records

• Manage incoming referrals and clinical correspondence

• Scan, file and distribute documents; type and format letters as required

• Process billing, receipting and payments

• Prepare Medicare, DVA and private health fund claims

• Liaise with hospitals, specialists, GPs and allied health providers

• Maintain stock and order office and clinical supplies

• Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy at all times

About you

• Excellent verbal and written communication

• Professional, friendly presentation and manner

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure

• Confident computer skills

• Reliability, punctuality and discretion

• Right to work in Australia

• Previous medical reception or customer service experience (desirable)

• Familiarity with practice management software (Gentu) and Medicare/DVA billing (desirable)

• Understanding of medical terminology (desirable)
