Djirra is seeking an experienced Grants Lead to join our Fundraising, Philanthropy & Partnerships team on a fixed term basis to cover parental leave. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled grant writer to step into a pivotal, organisation wide role at a time when quality grant proposal development is critical to the continued delivery of culturally safe, effective programs and services for Aboriginal women.

You will lead the identification, development and submission of grant proposals across a diverse range of institutional/government and philanthropic funding sources, working closely with Djirra's leadership team to ensure funding opportunities align with our strategic priorities. You'll also work across our program and service teams to draw on subject matter expertise, practice knowledge, evaluation and research to inform strong, compelling proposals.

This role sits at the heart of the program/service cycle — linking grant proposal development to program development, monitoring, evaluation, contract management and reporting.

• Proactively identify, pursue and track funding opportunities, with a focus on institutional/government funding.
• Coordinate the strategic analysis on whether to pursue funding opportunities, including reviewing guidelines, background documents and undertaking additional research where needed.
• Coordinate collaborative grant writing processes across teams — developing initial concepts, timelines, roles and responsibilities.
• Lead the generation of content and drafting of proposals, including narrative, theory of change/logic models, activity plans and budgets.
• Coordinate review, submission and reflection processes for grant proposals with key internal stakeholders.
• Provide regular reporting to stakeholders on grant pipeline, success rates and upcoming opportunities.
• Maintain and improve effective grant systems, processes and procedures.
• Work closely with the Contract Management & Reporting Officer to ensure successful grants transition smoothly into contract management and reporting.
• Support the Fundraising & Philanthropy Manager, as needed, with concepts for appeals, campaigns and case-for-support materials.
• Contribute to building a bank of scoped projects for which funding is not yet secured or where budget gaps exist.

• You bring demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal community, particularly the impact of family violence on Aboriginal women.
• You have a demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal organisations, communities and individuals in culturally safe ways.
• You have experience or knowledge of the First Nations funding and family violence institutional funding context.
• You have a proven track record of developing high-quality grant proposals and securing funding from institutional and non-institutional donors.
• You're an excellent writer and editor, able to craft clear, concise and persuasive proposals and reports for different audiences.
• You're skilled at facilitating collaborative grant writing processes with multiple stakeholders.
• You have strong research skills and can synthesise information from a range of sources.
• You understand institutional donor budget requirements and have experience preparing budgets for submission.
• You bring experience in program/service design and development in the context of grant proposal writing.
• You can manage multiple projects and competing deadlines in a fast-paced funding environment, working autonomously and taking initiative to improve processes.
• You're comfortable with MS Office (especially Excel and Word) and ideally have experience with grant proposal software or databases.
