Civil Construction Supervisor

Comstar Systems is a full-service Australian telecommunications company, our head office is based in Goodwood, with branches located in Southern and Northern Tasmania, Victoria and South Australia. The company provides end-to-end solutions in access, transit and wireless telecommunications networks and pride ourselves on providing turnkey solutions in telecommunications and broadcasting.

The Role

We currently have a fulltime contract opportunity for 12 months for an experienced, skilled and motivated Civil Construction Supervisor based in Northern or Southern Tasmania to oversee key civil construction activities across our projects. Reporting to the Senior Civil Manager, you will be responsible for supervising site-level Telecommunications new site delivery and operations (Greenfield Builds), including concrete placement, reinforcement installation, and formwork erection.

This role is critical in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise civil construction activities across multiple sites.
• Ensure compliance with QEHS standards.
• Manage daily site operations, records, and reporting.
• Review and complete project documentation and as-built drawings.
• Support management with planning, quotations, and team development.
• Coordinate site inductions and verify worker competencies.
• Ensure plant and equipment are compliant and fit for purpose.
• Identify and resolve design anomalies and site issues.
• Lead daily pre-starts, SWMS reviews, and emergency planning.
• Liaise with clients and stakeholders to ensure project expectations are met.
• Attend site meetings and escalate issues as required.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Essential Qualifications / Experience:

• Sound experience in Civil Construction and/or Building, in Telecommunications new site delivery (Greenfield Builds)
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of construction principles as applicable to the construction industry;
• Experience in leading medium to large scale / mass concrete footings;
• Demonstrated understanding of general concepts of mechanical / electrical engineering;
• QEHS awareness and compliance for sites in a similar environment;
• Experience in providing on site company presentation in diverse and technically challenging fields and locations;
• Record keeping of Quality documentation for task (i.e. Checklists, QEHS documentation, photos);
• Person In Charge of Site (PICW) knowledge and demonstrated experience;
• Ability to travel nationally and work away from home for extended periods of time
• Manual Driver’s Licence
