About us
The Aboriginal Peak Organisations of the Northern Territory Aboriginal Corporation ICN 10476 (APONT) is an alliance of peak Aboriginal organisations in the Northern Territory. The alliance was created to provide a more effective response to key issues affecting Aboriginal people in the Northern Territory, including through advocating practical policy solutions to government. APONT is a signatory to the $843 million partnership agreement on NT remote Aboriginal investment (NTRAI), an initiative under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap, and is funded to deliver the NTRAI capacity building and sector strengthening (CBSS) grants program.
About the role
The communications manager is responsible for developing and implementing APONT's communications strategy to strengthen the organisation's profile, promote its work, including the CBSS grants program, and engage members, stakeholders, partners, government and the broader community. The role leads the planning, creation, and delivery of clear, consistent, and engaging communications across multiple platforms while protecting and enhancing APONT's reputation. The communications manager works collaboratively across APONT to ensure communications support strategic objectives, advocacy initiatives, events, projects, and member engagement.
Key responsibilities
Develop and implement APONT's communications strategy
Strengthen the organisation's profile and promote its work
Promote the CBSS grants program
Engage members, stakeholders, partners, government and the broader community
Lead planning, creation, and delivery of communications across multiple platforms
Protect and enhance APONT's reputation
Work collaboratively across APONT to ensure communications support strategic objectives
Support advocacy initiatives, events, projects, and member engagement
About you
In-depth knowledge and understanding of contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander political, cultural and economic issues facing Aboriginal people and communities in the Northern Territory
Demonstrated experience in communications, publications or stakeholder engagement
Strong writing, editing and digital content skills, with experience creating practical resources for diverse audiences
Demonstrated skills in reporting, data collection or outcomes measurement
