Position: School Health Nurse
Location: Ngaanyatjarra Lands in WA
Contract type: Permanent - Flexible FIFO roster minimum of 4 weeks on
About the opportunity:
Join our team and make a meaningful difference to the health and wellbeing of school-aged children across the Ngaanyatjarra Lands.
In this role, you will deliver culturally responsive school-based health promotion, prevention, screening, early identification, care coordination and referral support. Working closely with Yarnangu families, schools, clinic teams, Aboriginal Health Practitioners and support workers, you will help ensure children receive timely and appropriate health care.
Key responsibilities include:
Deliver school health screening, including School Entry Health Assessments and targeted assessments.
Support referrals, care coordination and clinical follow-up.
Develop and review student health care plans with schools and clinic teams.
Support school-aged immunisation activities.
Deliver culturally appropriate health education and prevention programs.
Build strong partnerships with families, schools and health services.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to program reporting and quality improvement.

About you:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with postgraduate qualifications in Child Health.
Minimum three years’ nursing experience in primary health care, school health, child health, community health or a similar clinical setting.
Demonstrated understanding of primary health care, health promotion, prevention and early intervention in a remote Aboriginal community context.
Demonstrated ability to provide culturally safe care and build respectful relationships with Yarnangu families, schools, clinics, Aboriginal Health Practitioners, Yarnangu support workers and multidisciplinary teams.
Strong assessment, care planning, referral, follow-up, documentation and reporting skills, including experience using electronic clinical information systems such as Communicare.
HESA-accredited Immunisation qualification.
Current manual driver's licence.
Current National Police Clearance and WA Working with Children Check, or ability to obtain.
Ability and willingness to travel to remote communities by 4WD and/or light aircraft.
REC, PEC or other relevant remote emergency care qualification.
