The Avenues Group currently operates 16 high quality early learning centres across Brisbane, providing education and care for over 1500 children each day.

The opportunity:

Our Norman Park centre is currently seeking a Chef to join our team on a permanent basis, working 5 days per week Monaday-Friday. 

We need someone who is not only skilled and capable, but is inspiring and creative too. You will be in charge of creating the most delicious menus, full of variety and multi-culture influences from all over the world. We will be asking you to ensure that every dish they prepare meets the nutritional guidelines set by Nutrition Australia. We also want you to become an integral part of our team. We want you to become inspired to work alongside our educators and children within their classrooms to share your passion and your knowledge of healthy foods and a varied diet.

Duties of the role:

• Preparation of daily meals (morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea) for children ranging in age from 6 weeks to 6 years.

• On occasions early and late snacks will need to be available.

• Meet all individual food requirements of specific children where required including children with allergies and dietary requirements

• Preparation of nutritious meals for events / functions we will celebrate throughout the year.

• Adhering to the nutrition policy and guidelines set by the company.

• Working in accordance with the food safety regulations for safe and clean handling of food products.

• Be organised and use good time-management skills.

• Ordering food and supplies.

• Working closely with the Centre Director regarding menu development.

• Adhering to food costings and kitchen budgets set out.

• Ensuring a safe clean kitchen environment at all times

Compulsory selection criteria:

• Commercial Cookery certificate

• Food Safety Supervisors Certificate

• Current Blue Card (or willing to obtain)

• Minimum 2 years experience in a similar position.
