About the program

The Minbani Bebe Kinship Program is an Aboriginal Carer Services program funded by the Department of Children and Families (DCF). Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation delivers three service streams: Family Finding, Carer Assessments and Carer Support.

The program works alongside Aboriginal children, families and communities to identify safe, culturally connected kinship care options that promote children's identity, belonging and connection to family, culture and Country.

Minbani Bebe is seeking a Kinship Support Worker to work collaboratively across all service streams. Key responsibilities include:

• Facilitate culturally safe family and kinship mapping.
• Coordinate family meetings to support family-led decision making.
• Build collaborative relationships with families, DCF and key stakeholders.
• Contribute to kinship and foster carer assessments.
• Provide information, advocacy and ongoing support to carers.
• Maintain accurate case notes, records and reports.
• Promote the program and participate in community engagement activities.

Conditions of employment covered by the Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation Enterprise Agreement 2024. Salary range starting at $41.43 per hour. Option to salary package a maximum of $15,899 from your gross salary each year; 5 weeks pro rata annual leave per year; and a 21-hour week. Key Responsibilities

• Undertake Family Finding activities.
• Contribute to kinship and foster carer assessments.
• Maintain accurate case notes, client records and program documentation.
• Work collaboratively with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and other key stakeholders.
• Participate in regular team meetings, supervision and professional development.
• Maintain privacy, confidentiality and ethical practice.
• Provide culturally responsive information and support to carers and families.
• Promote the Minbani Bebe Kinship Program through community engagement activities.
• Organise carer group and community activities with the support of the Manager.
• Demonstrate sound administrative and computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
• Work flexible hours when required to support family meetings, community events and program activities.
• Foster culturally safe practice by respecting Aboriginal families, communities, cultures and kinship systems.

Key Selection Criteria

• Identify as Indigenous
• Relevant experience in family support work, social work or community work
• A relevant Certificate IV in Community Services, or Diploma in related discipline, with at least five years’ work experience in a similar role.
• Resilience to work with vulnerable families and confidence to facilitate family meetings
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to communicate at all levels
• Have good written skills and have experience in writing case notes, assessments and reports
• NT Drivers Licence (C Class), a valid Working with Children (OCHRE) Card, Current NT Driver’s Licence (C Class minimum), Current Police check
