We are partnering with one of the world’s leading developer technology companies as it expands its presence in Australia. The business is helping shape how modern software and AI-powered applications are designed, built and operated.
We are looking for a commercially minded, hands-on engineer who can move comfortably between an executive conversation, a customer workshop, a whiteboard and production code.
You might come from consulting, solutions architecture, forward deployment, sales engineering or hands-on technical leadership. What matters is your ability to uncover a real business problem, design the right technical solution and take ownership through to production.
This is not a pure pre-sales role. You will remain deeply involved after the deal is signed, helping customers build, launch, scale and improve production systems.
The opportunityYou will embed closely with engineering teams at ambitious startups, scale-ups and enterprise organisations, helping them adopt modern AI and developer technologies.
You will lead technical discovery, design future-state architectures, build proofs of concept and turn early ideas into reliable production systems. You will work across AI applications, agentic workflows, developer tooling, modern web platforms and cloud infrastructure.
Some engagements may begin with a customer asking how AI could improve their engineering workflow. Others may involve designing an agentic application, modernising an existing platform, running a technical evaluation or helping a team standardise on a new architecture.Your job is to work out what is genuinely holding the customer back, define what success looks like and own the solution from discovery through delivery and ongoing adoption.
What you’ll doLead technical discovery with engineering leaders, developers and executives to understand customer challenges, technical constraints and commercial objectivesTranslate ambiguous business problems into clear technical scopes, architectures and measurable success criteriaDesign modern AI, agentic and web application architectures across frontends, APIs, models, data, cloud infrastructure and third-party integrationsBuild AI-powered workflows and applications using LLMs, agents, RAG, APIs, tool calling, evaluation frameworks and observability platformsCreate technical demonstrations, workshops and reference applications that show how the technology can solve real customer problemsOwn proofs of concept and customer pilots from beginning to end, including implementation, troubleshooting, documentation and executive-level outcomesShip an initial solution quickly, then harden it into a secure, scalable and reliable production systemRemain hands-on across TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, modern web frameworks, APIs and cloud servicesHelp customers handle model behaviour, evaluation, tracing, latency, cost, reliability and failure modes in productionGuide architecture, migrations, onboarding, security reviews, performance optimisation and platform adoptionWork closely with Sales during the evaluation process while maintaining credibility as a technical advisor to the customerPartner with Product and Engineering teams to resolve customer blockers and influence the product roadmapTurn successful customer solutions into reusable playbooks, reference architectures, example repositories and implementation patternsShare insights from the field and act as the technical voice of the customerContribute to technical content, customer workshops, industry events and developer education
You may be a strong fit if youHave significant experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Solutions Architect, Forward Deployed Engineer, Sales Engineer, Technical Consultant or Platform ArchitectBring strong software engineering foundations and still enjoy building, debugging and reviewing production codeHave worked within a leading consulting firm, high-growth startup, developer platform or technically complex SaaS businessCan build trust with senior engineers while clearly explaining commercial outcomes and technical trade-offs to executivesHave designed and delivered complex technical solutions involving multiple stakeholders, systems and dependenciesAre comfortable taking a project from an unclear customer problem through architecture, implementation, rollout and production supportHave built AI-native products or workflows that have moved beyond the prototype stage and into real-world useUnderstand the practical strengths and limitations of modern foundation modelsHave hands-on experience with LLMs, agent frameworks, RAG, tool use, prompt engineering, evaluation, tracing and observabilityAre strong in TypeScript and JavaScript, with experience in Python and the ability to learn new technologies quicklyUnderstand APIs, distributed systems, cloud architecture, networking, caching, security and application performanceHave experience working with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud and understand how modern SaaS platforms fit into enterprise environmentsCan balance speed with reliability, making sensible decisions around security, scalability, performance and costThrive in ambiguity, take ownership and enjoy being accountable for customer outcomes
