About Us
Wongaburra Society is a not-for-profit, stand-alone, and well-established aged care provider in the Scenic Rim Regional Council and is seeking an experienced and dedicated Chef to join our team on a full-time basis.
This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to the health and wellbeing of our elderly residents by delivering high-quality, nutritious onsite freshly cooked meals in a supportive environment.
About the Role
You will be responsible for preparing and serving meals tailored to the dietary needs of aged care residents, ensuring that every meal supports their nutrition, preferences, and dignity. The role is based in a newly built, well-equipped kitchen alongside a collaborative and caring team.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook meals for aged care residents, including specialised dietary and texture-modified meals
Ensure compliance with all food safety and hygiene standards
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, equipment, and food storage
Assist with menu planning that reflects resident preferences and seasonal ingredients
Manage stock levels and assist with ordering and inventory
Be part of food focus committee meetings and new menu implementation team
Work cooperatively with kitchen and care staff to support positive dining experiences
Supervise and manage lesser experienced Cooks and train in culinary techniques were necessary
Additional Requirements:
Recent police checks
Food Safety Program certificate
Knowledge of compliance management
What We’re Looking For:
Minimum of 3 years full-time experience as a chef in aged care kitchen
Sound understanding of food safety practices and nutrition for older adults
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Strong communication skills and time management
Certificate IV in commercial cookery and Diploma in hospitality management is mandatory
Salary:
This is a full-time position with an annual salary ranging from $81,000 to $85,000, excluding superannuation, and depending on the candidate's experience. Wongaburra also offers salary sacrifice.
