Legal Operations Manager

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will play a key role in developing a scalable operating model for Sather Legal Group. You will work closely with Practice Managers to drive improvements across areas such as debtors and collections, invoicing and billing, operational and performance reporting, office operations, workflow and process efficiency, IT and systems support, LEAP utilisation, SOPs and standardised processes, automation, AI, acquisition integration, group-wide projects, and operational excellence. You will be equally comfortable working with leadership on a strategic initiative and getting into the detail to map a workflow, build an implementation plan or solve an operational problem.

Key responsibilities

• Work alongside Practice Managers to improve operational and commercial performance
• Review debtor, invoicing and operational performance
• Identify inefficiencies and recommend practical improvements
• Develop reporting and measures that give leaders better visibility of performance
• Improve office and administrative processes
• Identify opportunities to increase productivity and capacity
• Lead operational integration of newly acquired practices
• Develop integration plans, milestones and implementation schedules
• Coordinate multiple stakeholders and workstreams
• Manage group-wide operational projects

About you

• Experience in legal operations, professional services operations, business transformation, project or program management, operational excellence, continuous improvement, technology or systems implementation, or multi-site operations
• Demonstrated ability to deliver complex projects from start to finish
• Proven track record of improving processes and operational performance
• Experience managing multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
• Ability to create structure where things were previously inconsistent
• Demonstrated use of data to identify problems and measure improvements
• Experience implementing systems, technology or automation
• Ability to influence people without relying on formal authority
• Experience taking an idea from concept to implementation
• Experience with LEAP, legal practice management systems, workflow automation or AI highly regarded
