Boys to the Bush was founded in 2017 and is a registered not-for-profit community-based charity. Our priority is helping boys to become good men through our core values of engagement, respect and community. We are creating better fathers, sons, husbands, brothers, and employees for the future. Our dedicated team is based across regional locations in Victoria and New South Wales.
About the role
Boys to the Bush has an exciting opportunity for a Government Relations Lead to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis.
Reporting to the Head of Brand and Fundraising, the Government Relations Lead will be responsible for identifying, securing and growing government and philanthropic grant income, with a particular focus on core funding, service sustainability and strategic state-based funding opportunities.
This role will lead the development of government relations, funding submissions and policy positioning, building a strong pipeline of opportunities to support Boys to the Bush’s sustainability and growth.
This is a full time, permanent role, based at the Head Office in Lavington, NSW. The position does require occasional travel to capital city and regional locations, as well as to areas in the existing Boys to the Bush footprint, planned in advance, but inclusive of some nights away from home.
This position will suit someone who brings a strategic and proactive approach to government engagement, with the ability to navigate policy environments and build trusted stakeholder relationships.
About you
A passion for improving outcomes for disadvantaged/disengaged youth
Demonstrated capacity to act as a positive role model for the youth in your community
Excellent communication skills and engagement capability across diverse audiences, and able to represent BttB professionally
Intermediate technology skills, including Microsoft Office, and other systems required by BttB
Tertiary qualifications or experience in public policy, communications, politics, marketing, community development, or a related field
Experience in not-for-profit, government, youth or community sectors desirable
