About the role
Perth Clinic is a leading provider in acute mental health care in Western Australia. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards whilst providing quality care. Located in West Perth, Perth Clinic is a wholly owned and operated private psychiatric hospital situated close to Kings Park.
Perth Clinics’ Mental Health Nursing Program for both graduate and experienced nurses offers comprehensive support and guidance for nurses to transition to clinical practice specializing in the field of mental health.
The program is suitable for:
First year Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse graduates.
Clinicians currently registered as an EN or RN with little/no experience in mental health seeking to pursue a career in the mental health field.
Perth Clinic offers a 12-month program with rotations through four specialty clinical mental health areas. This program includes:
Exposure to acute psychiatry, addiction issues, adolescent patients and patients with complex trauma.
Clinical skill-based development and comprehensive knowledge relevant to the care of mental health patients supported by regular specialized training sessions each month.
Engaging in collaborative practice within a multi-disciplinary team in a culturally safe manner, valuing ethical behaviour.
Nurses are provided with a preceptor on all rotations.
An exciting and challenging opportunity exists to provide clinical care to patients who are in need of specialised services.
Essential Criteria
Tertiary qualifications as a AHPRA registered Nurse.
Demonstrates an appropriate level of clinical competence and a desire to pursue a career in mental health care.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills both written and oral.
A willingness to learn new skills in facilitating crisis management.
Ability to work shifts.
