About the role
The Assistant Director of Care plays a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care within a residential aged care setting. The incumbent leads a team of healthcare professionals, oversees care planning and coordination, promotes a safe and supportive environment, actively contributes to the reaccreditation process, and monitors and maintains AN-ACC documentation.
Key responsibilities
Leads and manages a team of healthcare professionals, including Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Physiotherapists, and care staff
Provides guidance, support, and mentorship to staff, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment
Conducts regular team meetings to promote effective communication and the sharing of knowledge and best practices
Oversees staff rostering, allocation of duties, and performance management processes
Ensures the provision of person-centred care that meets residents' physical, emotional, and social needs
Conducts comprehensive assessments of residents' physical, cognitive, emotional, and social wellbeing
Collaborates with residents, families, and the multidisciplinary team to develop individualised care plans
Ensures compliance with the Aged Care Quality Standards, relevant legislation, and accreditation requirements
Monitors and reviews AN-ACC documentation to ensure accuracy, currency, and completeness
Acts as an advocate for residents, ensuring their rights, dignity, and preferences are respected
About you
A bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Current nursing license and registration
Proven experience in managing and leading a nursing team in a healthcare setting, preferably in a nursing home or long-term care facility
Strong knowledge of nursing practices, regulations, and quality improvement methodologies
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
Proficient in using relevant computer software and electronic health records systems
Knowledge of infection control, medication management, and resident rights, ANACC and advocacy
