About the role
The City of Melbourne is continuing to invest in its City Insights and Analytics function to strengthen evidence based decision making across the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced analytics professional to join a team that is playing an increasingly strategic role in helping the organisation solve complex challenges, improve services and deliver better outcomes for the community.
As the Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, you will act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across the organisation, delivering high quality analytics, meaningful insights and evidence based recommendations that influence decisions at both strategic and operational levels. You'll combine technical expertise with strong stakeholder engagement and data storytelling skills to unlock value from the City's data assets and help drive better outcomes.
The team has recently undergone a significant uplift, creating a strong platform to further mature analytics capability, strengthen self-service reporting, improve data literacy and increase the impact of insights across the organisation.

You will help transform data into actionable insights that improve decision making, organisational performance and business outcomes. Through trusted analytics solutions, performance frameworks and strong stakeholder partnerships, you will enable better visibility of trends, opportunities and risks. You will also contribute to building analytics capability through self service insights, improved data literacy, reusable data products and continuous improvement practices.
About you
You are an experienced Business Intelligence or Analytics professional who enjoys turning complex information into practical business outcomes.
You are naturally curious, commercially minded and comfortable navigating ambiguity. You enjoy partnering with stakeholders to understand challenges, identify opportunities and deliver insights that create impact.
You bring a balance of strong technical capability and stakeholder engagement skills, allowing you to move seamlessly between developing analytical solutions and influencing key decisions.
You are motivated by continuous improvement and enjoy finding better ways of working, whether that's through automation, improved reporting, enhanced data governance or stronger analytical practices.
