About the role
About UsAt Hullbot we're on a mission to decarbonise the global maritime industry. We're delivering autonomous underwater robots that inspect and clean ship hulls. Hullbot's systems are actively deployed in locations around the world, maintaining hulls free of biofouling, reducing fuel use and cutting emissions.United by a shared ambition to create environmental impact on a global scale, we move fast and solve complex technical challenges together. If you want to work on real robotic solutions with measurable impact, solving one of the world's biggest environmental challenges, Hullbot is the place to do it.
The RoleHullbot is looking for an IT Administrator to own the day-to-day IT that keeps a growing robotics company running - the laptops, accounts, access, and support that every person here relies on to get their work done.IT support and administration currently sit with our Senior System Administrator, alongside infrastructure, cloud, and security work. The company has grown to the point where that's comfortably two jobs. You'll take the day-to-day IT function and own it - becoming the first point of contact for IT across the company, with a senior colleague alongside you who knows the environment inside out. This isn't a narrow helpdesk queue. Hullbot designs, builds, and operates underwater robots, so alongside the usual laptops and SaaS accounts you'll be supporting workshop machines, test rigs, and the equipment our engineers take into the field. It's a broad, hands-on IT role in an environment that keeps it interesting. If IT administration is the career you want, there's real room here. As you grow, the role grows with you: more autonomy, more of the IT function under your ownership, better tooling and automation, and wider scope as the company adds people and sites. We'd love to talk.
What You'll DoBe the first point of contact for IT support across the company - triage, resolve, and escalate requests, and keep people unblockedOwn the hardware lifecycle: procurement, setup, imaging, asset tracking, repairs, and retirement of laptops, workstations, peripherals, and mobile devicesRun our IT inventory and store room - keep stock organised and labelled, track what's issued to whom, hold spares and consumables at sensible levels, and reorder before we run shortRun onboarding and offboarding end to end - accounts, access, and hardware - so day one is smooth and the last day is cleanAdminister day-to-day user accounts and permissions across Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Notion, and our other tools, following our access policiesKeep endpoints healthy - MDM enrolment, patching, disk encryption, endpoint security, and verifying backups actually restoreTrack licences, subscriptions, and renewals across our SaaS and connectivity providers (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, Starlink, mobile and internet plans), and flag what's unused or coming up for renewalSupport office and lab IT - Wi-Fi, meeting rooms, printers, network points, and the shared machines our engineers depend onKeep our IT documentation genuinely useful: runbooks, how-to guides, and asset and licence records that stay currentAssist the senior team on infrastructure work - servers, NAS, networking, and cloud - taking on more as you build depth
What We're Looking ForWe care more about attitude and aptitude than years on a CV. If you've got most of this, apply. Some hands-on IT experience - an internship, helpdesk or support role, an IT qualification, or a home lab you've built and broken often enough to learn fromA genuine service mindset - you see a colleague with a broken laptop as the job, not an interruption to itConfident troubleshooting Windows and Linux (used extensively in robots and servers)A working grasp of the fundamentals - user accounts and permissions, IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, VPNs - or the drive to learn them quicklyClear, patient communication: you can explain a fix to a mechanical engineer without jargon, then write it down so the next person doesn't have to askOrganised and reliable, with real follow-through - you close the loop instead of leaving things half-doneMethodical about inventory and record-keeping - happy running a physical store room and keeping an asset register that actually matches what's on the shelfSound judgment around sensitive access and data - this role comes with administrative privileges, and we need someone who treats that seriously and asks before acting when unsure
You'll Thrive Here If You…Like being the person who fixes things, and take real satisfaction in other people's work going smoothlyTake pride in the craft of IT administration - a clean asset register and a tidy access list are quietly satisfyingWould rather document or automate a problem away than solve it the same way five timesAre curious about how systems actually work, not just which button resolves the ticketWant to own a function rather than be handed a queue, and will treat it like it's yoursAre comfortable with ambiguity - parts of this role are still being defined, and you'll help shape themCare about ocean health and want your work to contribute to something with real environmental impact
Bonus ExperienceCertifications such as CompTIA A+ or Network+, Microsoft MS-900 or AZ-900, or Google Workspace AdministratorScripting for automation - PowerShell, Bash, or PythonExposure to MDM or identity platforms (Intune, Entra ID, Okta, Google Cloud Identity)Any AWS or Google Cloud experience, including from study or personal projectsFamiliarity with networking hardware - switches, firewalls, access points - or with StarlinkExperience supporting a hardware, lab, manufacturing, or field-operations environmentExperience with ticketing or IT documentation systems
Why Hullbot?See your work supporting real robots solving real environmental problemsOwn the IT function outright rather than being one ticket-handler among manyReal influence over the tools, vendors, and processes you use every dayDirect mentorship from senior engineers and system administratorsScope that grows as the company does - more people, more sites, more systems under your careA small, tight-knit team where the work you do is visible and appreciated
