Saltwater School Activity Coordinator

About the role

The Land's Edge Foundation is looking for an energetic and friendly Activity Coordinator for our Saltwater School to help deliver our growing range of outdoor learning programmes, curriculum-based field studies and adventure activities. Working alongside our Saltwater School Centre Coordinator, you'll be responsible for bringing programmes to life on the ground. From preparing activity logistics and briefing instructors to welcoming clients and overseeing daily operations, you'll play a key role in ensuring every group enjoys a safe, engaging and meaningful experience. Based on the shores of Sydney Harbour at beautiful Chowder Bay, this is an opportunity to combine your passion for outdoor recreation, education and people leadership in a truly unique workplace.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the day-to-day delivery of Saltwater School activities, curriculum-based field studies and group programs

• Prepare programme paperwork, instructor briefs, risk management documentation and client information prior to arrival

• Welcome schools, groups and participants, acting as the primary on-site contact throughout their experience

• Brief, roster and support a team of casual instructors to ensure activities are delivered safely and professionally

• Manage programme logistics including equipment, venue preparation, staffing requirements and activity schedules

• Monitor weather, water and site conditions and make operational decisions to ensure safe programme delivery

• Maintain activity equipment, stock levels and operational spaces to a high standard

• Work closely with the Saltwater School Centre Coordinator to ensure a seamless transition from booking and planning through to delivery and follow-up

About you

• You are highly organised and can confidently coordinate multiple moving parts at once

• You love working with young people and creating positive outdoor learning experiences

• You are an excellent communicator who can build rapport with teachers, students, parents and colleagues

• You thrive in a hands-on role and enjoy being outdoors rather than behind a desk all day

• You have solid computer literacy and understand why completing paperwork accurately is important

• You are calm under pressure and able to adapt plans when conditions or circumstances change

• You have experience leading teams and supporting casual or seasonal staff

• You have a strong commitment to safety and risk management in outdoor environments

• You have qualifications or experience in guiding one of our core activities (snorkel, kayak and SUP)

• Experience in outdoor education, marine science, or group programme delivery will be highly regarded
