Role Overview
Afternoon Shift: Monday - Friday, 12PM - 5PM
Pay Rate: $20 - $25/hr DOE
Summary
The Armed Security Officer provides a visible, professional security presence at our facility, protecting employees, visitors, contractors, executives, and company assets. This is a facility security post, not an executive-protection assignment — the role safeguards everyone in and around the HQ building, including members of the executive team as building occupants, through standard security operations: presence, monitoring, verification, and response.
In this role, you will conduct patrols, control access, monitor security systems, and serve as first responder to security incidents and medical emergencies, coordinating with the Security Manager and outside emergency responders as needed.
Responsibilities Include The Following
Conduct routine interior and exterior patrols of the corporate campus, parking lots, and surrounding propertyMonitor access control systems, surveillance cameras, alarms, and related security technologyVerify employee, visitor, and contractor credentials; enforce access control proceduresConduct security inspections and identify vulnerabilities or safety concernsRespond to security incidents, disturbances, suspicious activity, and emergency situationsProvide first response to medical and other emergencies until relieved by emergency personnelAssist with building evacuations, shelter-in-place events, and emergency response operationsCoordinate with local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency responders when necessaryProtect employees, visitors, contractors, executives, and company assets through standard facility security measuresInvestigate and document incidents, accidents, property damage, and policy violationsComplete accurate and detailed incident reports, daily activity reports, and security logsMaintain patrol coverage during Security Manager absences by adjusting shift start/end times as needed, with reasonable noticeEnforce company policies, security procedures, and safety regulations consistently across shiftsMaintain proficiency with issued firearms and approved defensive equipmentParticipate in ongoing training, drills, and professional development activitiesMaintain current, unlapsed state armed security officer licensure and continuing educationOther security-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum age 21, consistent with Utah's requirements for lawful firearm carryHigh school diploma or GEDValid Utah driver's license with an acceptable driving recordCurrent Utah DOPL Armed Private Security Officer license, or ability to obtain one upon hireAbility to legally possess and carry a firearm under Utah lawNo felony convictions or other disqualifying criminal historyStrong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in report writing and documentationAbility to remain calm and exercise sound judgment under stressAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionAvailability for the standard schedule, including occasional shift adjustment with notice
Preferred
Prior military, law enforcement, corrections, or corporate security experience a plusExperience working in a corporate headquarters or critical infrastructure environment a plusCPR, First Aid, and AED certification a plusExperience with access control, CCTV, alarm systems, or security management software a plusAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Homeland Security, Emergency Management, or a related field a plus
Functional Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, and climb stairs during patrolsAbility to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.Ability to respond quickly during emergency situationsAbility to operate security and communication equipmentAbility to qualify and maintain proficiency with the assigned firearm, per Utah continuing-education requirements
