About the role
Cranbrook School is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Outdoor Educator to join St Michael’s Pre-School, located in Vaucluse, in a part-time, fixed-term parental leave position commencing Term 4, 2026.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Outdoor Educator will plan and deliver engaging outdoor learning experiences that support children’s physical development, health, wellbeing and confidence, with a particular focus on fundamental movement skills.
Working across the Pre-School, the role will create purposeful opportunities for children to develop through movement and play, while contributing to a high-quality learning environment aligned with the EYLF and IB frameworks.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers and educators and contribute to the broader Pre-School program.
This is a fixed-term parental leave position working 0.4 FTE across Thursday and Friday, commencing Term 4 on Monday, 12 October 2026 and concluding Friday, 11 December 2026, with the possibility of extension into 2027. The position reports to the Pre-School Coordinator.
ABOUT YOU
You are an enthusiastic and collaborative educator with a genuine passion for outdoor learning and supporting young children’s physical development.
You will bring strong communication skills, a positive approach and the ability to build effective relationships with children, teachers and educators.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Experience working with young children in an early childhood or education setting
Knowledge of the EYLF and IB frameworks and early childhood pedagogy
A genuine interest in outdoor learning and children’s physical development
Strong communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills
Ability to plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences
Commitment to child safety, wellbeing and continuous improvement
Understanding of relevant early childhood legislation, regulations, policies and child protection requirements
SELECTION CRITERIA
Relevant experience working with young children in an early childhood or education setting
Demonstrated understanding of early childhood pedagogy, including the EYLF and/or IB frameworks
Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate outdoor learning experiences
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and educators
Understanding of relevant early childhood legislation, regulations, policies and child protection requirements
A strong commitment to children’s safety, wellbeing and development
Minimum Certificate III Early Childhood
Current NSW Working with Children Check clearance
