Lake MacLeod also produces approximately 1Mtpa of gypsum, predominantly exported throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Our gypsum operation includes excavation and water leaching to produce premium plasterboard and cement-grade products.

About the Role

We are growing and have an exciting opportunity for three Marine Operators to join the team at Lake MacLeod, commencing on 1 October 2026.

This role supports the safe and efficient loading and movement of bulk vessels as part of a specialised Marine/Dozing team based at Cape Cuvier. The position operates on a rotating day and night shift roster, consisting of 10-hour shifts while residing on site during vessel loading operations.

This is a hands-on role suited to people who enjoy working outdoors, value teamwork and take pride in doing the job properly. We are looking for individuals who demonstrate a genuine commitment to safety, bring a positive attitude to work each day and are willing to learn and develop new skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform shipboard mooring safely and in accordance with site procedures.
• Operate dozers and other equipment to support ship loading and bulk material handling activities.
• Maintain a strong commitment to safety by identifying hazards, reporting unsafe conditions and following safe work practices.
• Participate in pre-starts, safety meetings, risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist supervisors and team members with general operational and administrative duties.
• Conduct routine inspections, cleaning and basic maintenance of equipment to maximise reliability and minimise downtime.
• Assist with fixed plant operations and general port activities as required.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to support safe, efficient operations.
• Contribute positively to a team culture where people support one another, take ownership of their work and work safely every day.

What We're Looking For

To be considered for the role, it would be advantageous to have the following qualifications, skills, attributes and experience:

• Minimum C Class Driver's Licence.
• Previous experience in marine, port, mining or similar heavy industry environment.
• Relevant machinery operating tickets and experience operating HME such as dozers, forklifts or other mobile equipment.
• Maritime safety certifications such as STCW, First Aid or similar (highly regarded).
• Demonstrated experience with general rope handling and splicing.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with experience in mobile plant and/or fixed plant maintenance (advantageous).
• Demonstrated commitment to working safely, recognising hazards and following safe work practices.
• Good computer, administration and database management skills.
• Physically fit and capable of working in demanding outdoor environments.
• A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• A reliable team player who communicates well, takes responsibility for their work and contributes positively to team culture.
