Mechanical Fitter — Workshop & On-Site Work
At Packweigh, we design and manufacture high-performance weighing, bagging, and automation systems used by producers and processors across Australia. We're known for quality, reliability, and actually showing up when customers need us.
We're looking for a trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter — someone who takes pride in their work, is comfortable working independently on-site, and gets genuine satisfaction from keeping complex equipment running properly.
What You'll Do:
Travel to customer sites across Australia to carry out scheduled and breakdown maintenance on Packweigh machinery
Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on industrial weighing, bagging, and automation equipment
Carry out installations and assist with commissioning of new equipment on-site
Work alongside our electricians on combined mechanical and electrical fault-finding when needed
Represent Packweigh professionally in the field — you're often the face of the business to our customers
Build long-term relationships with customers through reliable, expert service
What We're Looking For:
Trade qualification in fitting, or a related mechanical trade
Hands-on experience maintaining or servicing industrial equipment
Comfortable reading mechanical drawings and working from specifications
Able to work independently and manage your own time in the field
Willing to travel regularly
Valid Australian driver's licence and full Australian working rights
Bonus Points For:
Experience with packaging, food processing, agricultural, or automation machinery
Restricted electrical licence
Construction white card or forklift ticket
Previous field service or on-site installation experience
What We Offer:
Company vehicle
Company mobile phone and laptop
Paid travel allowances for time away from home
Genuine overtime opportunities
Permanent, stable role with a well-established Australian manufacturer
Real career growth as the service department expands
