Conference and Events Sales Executive

At Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns, we have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Conference & Event Sales Executive to join our Sales and Marketing team. 

The Hotel

Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns is a luxury five-star hotel located beside Marlin Marina and Trinity Inlet in the heart of Cairns. With 255 guest rooms, 18 function venues and extensive food and beverage facilities, the hotel is part of a leading international company with more than 100 hotels and resorts worldwide.

The Role

• Ownership with sourcing new business, including local corporate meetings, social events, parties, etc.

• Organising and leading site inspections

• Contract negotiation & preparation of professional quotations for potential business

• Preparation of Banquet Event Orders for external and internal events

• Networking and business development with local industries

• Liaison with all relevant departments in the hotel to ensure awareness of client requirements and successful events.

What we are looking for

You will be the first contact point for prospective new clients.  It is therefore essential that you have the following attributes:

• Excellent verbal and written communication and the ability to build and develop client relationships

• Strong organisation skills with the capacity to work across several different events at the same time

• Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) with experience with Delphi a considered advantage

• A genuine passion for event management and a desire to progress your career.
