About the role
Position Description
Support Your Way is seeking experienced disability support workers to join our growing team across Melbourne's inner-city suburbs, including Melbourne CBD, West Melbourne, North Melbourne, Docklands, Carlton, Parkville, Kensington and surrounding areas.
Support Your Way is a disability-led organisation that provides practical, respectful and person-centred support to people with disability. Our support workers play an important role in helping participants build independence, maintain routines, access the community and receive safe support at home.
About the role
We are currently recruiting experienced support workers for casual roles across Melbourne's inner-city suburbs.
Shifts may include afternoons, evenings, weekends, active nights, sleepovers and other times depending on participant needs.
Support may be provided in the participant's home or out in the community.
Tasks may include:
Personal care
Domestic assistance
Meal preparation
Community access and transport
Social support
Support with daily routines
Promoting independence
Following support plans and behaviour support strategies
What we are looking for
We are looking for support workers who are experienced, reliable and confident working with participants who may have complex support needs.
The following experience is highly valued:
Disability support experience
Mental health support experience
Experience supporting participants with behaviours of concern
Experience following behaviour support plans
Confidence with personal care
Strong communication skills
Calm, patient and respectful approach
Reliable attendance and availability
Ability to build positive professional relationships
Willingness to follow routines, plans and workplace expectations
Training can be provided where needed; prior experience in disability support is strongly preferred.
Requirements
Successful applicants must have or be willing to obtain:
National Police Check
Full Australian Driver’s Licence
First Aid and CPR Certificate
Working with Children Check
NDIS Worker Screening Check
NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
Manual Handling Certificate
Medication Administration Certificate
Willingness to complete in-house training and professional development
Flexibility to work a range of shift times
