Midweight UI Designer (Freelance / Casual, Remote, Melbourne)

About the role

You'll take brand style guides and AI-generated images and turn them into website mockups. This involves laying out full pages in Figma (home, about, services, contact, landing pages), writing and placing copy directly in mockups using Claude so layouts arrive with real words rather than placeholder text, and building responsive layouts that work across desktop and mobile. You'll package and hand off clean, well-structured Figma files for developers to build from, working alongside brand designers and a VA. You'll receive a style guide, imagery, and a brief—often walked through on Loom—and take direction to run with it autonomously.

Key responsibilities

• Transform brand style guides and AI-generated images into website mockups in Figma
• Lay out full pages including home, about, services, contact, and landing pages
• Write and place copy directly in mockups using Claude
• Build responsive layouts that function across desktop and mobile
• Package and hand off clean, well-structured Figma files to developers
• Work alongside brand designers and a VA
• Take direction from briefs and Loom walkthroughs and execute autonomously

About you

• Genuinely fluent in Figma, not just able to move boxes around
• Comfortable with Claude for copy and have a working understanding of how AI images fit into layouts
• Work autonomously and figure things out rather than waiting to be told
• Learn when you encounter something you haven't done before
• Take feedback without defensiveness and ask clarifying questions about what isn't working
• Can take a brand someone else built and extend it into UI without losing the thread—type, spacing, and feel must carry through
• Melbourne based preferred
