Toora Women is a not-for-profit organisation which has been delivering gender specific services to women in the ACT and surrounds since 1982. Our purpose is to be the leading organisation in the ACT providing safe, respectful support for all women who are impacted by domestic and family violence, homelessness, the criminal justice system and/or alcohol and drug dependency and a provider of choice for First nations women and children.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Bullandyimma Yurwangdyimma Program Senior Practitioner (Many Strong Women) to provide cultural leadership, practice guidance and direct support that strengthens outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, children and families engaging with Toora.

This role combines strategic leadership, cultural advocacy, stakeholder engagement and direct service delivery. Working across the organisation, you will support the development of culturally safe, trauma informed and self determined approaches while strengthening relationships with Aboriginal communities and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead culturally informed practice approaches across Toora services.
• Provide specialist cultural advice and guidance to staff and leadership.
• Deliver culturally appropriate, trauma-informed support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, children and families.
• Mentor and build staff capability in culturally safe practice.
• Participate in case reviews, incident reviews and service improvement initiatives.
• Build strong relationships with Aboriginal communities, Elders and key stakeholders.
• Support culturally informed intake, assessment and decision-making processes.
• Contribute to policy development, organisational learning and cultural safety initiatives.
  

About You

• Strong cultural knowledge and connections within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
• Demonstrated experience working with women, children and families.
• Experience providing leadership, mentoring and practice guidance.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally safe practice.
• Excellent communication, advocacy and problem-solving skills.

Mandatory Requirements

• Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
• Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration.
• Current Driver License.
• National Police Records Check.
